SeeMeCV is a totally new way to manage your job seeking process.
As a candidate

Why do I need a videoCV?

The recruitment market now operates on a global scale and the decision criteria used by leading companies when identifying suitable candidates, have become more complex. Candidates are being sourced from all over the world so the challenge of simply standing out and differentiating yourself is more difficult than ever. Employers and recruiters want to make the right decision fast, so you need to give them the most efficient and effective insight into your capabilities - they need to be confident that their time pursuing you is well spent.

A videoCV enables you to communicate your unique strengths more clearly than ever before. Your video minimises the unknowns or risks for the employer in deciding to progress with your application – they have seen, heard and experienced YOU, so they know exactly who is going to walk in the door and what to expect – no surprises!!

How do I use my videoCV?

This is one of the key differences between SeeMeCV and any other online job service.

We are focused on the needs of the candidate, so you use your SeeMeCV profile wherever, whenever and however you choose.

As an independent platform we are not tied to any recruiter, employer or online job portal, so you can create your profile once with no limitations on where you can use it!

You can set your profile to be searchable and this allows employers or recruiters to use a search to find your profile. They will be able to review your CV and watch your video, but they won’t have access to your personal contact details (these remain hidden). If they have an interesting opportunity for you, they can contact you through the system via email or SMS. You then decide whether to Accept or Decline that invitation. If you Accept, the system reveals your personal contact information so you can be contacted directly.

You can also taken active control and use the send facilities in the system to target your employers of choice. Here are some examples of how you can send your profile;

• You can send your SeeMeCV profile in an email directly to your chosen employer – simple create a secure link set an expiry date and then add the link to your email
• You can submit your SeeMeCV application via their website – simply past the link into the online registration process
• You can add your SeeMeCV link into a covering letter or traditional CV – embed your unique link into a covering letter, or CV attachment
• You can use your SeeMeCV profile in the leading job portals by adding your link into a text field or embedding it into a cover letter or CV document
Think creatively and there is always a way to get your SeeMeCV profile into the hands of a decision maker.

When targeting specific companies you might want to create a specific video which highlights their current job requirements and how your unique skills make you the candidate of choice. What is a SeeMeCV profile and why is it so different?

A SeeMeCV profile combines three key elements:

1. A standardised format CV– the CV document still plays an important role in the assessment of any candidate, but too often candidates believe that the fonts and creative format of their CV can help them. More often than not, this works against them. The CV is meant to be an accurate and succinct document detailing your personal, educational and professional skills, experience and capabilities. Hiring managers want a simple format which is easy to digest and can be used for comparison across candidates. SeeMeCV have created a level playing field by fixing the layout of the CV allowing the content to be the focus of attention.
2. A personal introductory video – employers need to see the candidate and listen to them to complete an assessment of their suitability. Too often this is done for the first time at a face-to-face interview, and by this point, time, money & effort have been spent by the candidate and employer to find out the “match” is not there. A video introduction enables the employer to complete this assessment without having to make direct contact with the candidate. The video is the opportunity for the job seeker to add new dimensions and insights into their suitability for the job and to communicate their differentiators from other candidates.
3. Additional information – candidates can add technical competence tests, certificates, supplementary attachments, you can even link to additional videos stored elsewhere to help prove you are the best candidate. This “Additional Information” service launches soon!!

   ..and unlike the traditional approach of sending CVs as document, the SeeMeCV profile is online, so you only ever have to keep one copy up to date. Hiring managers access your profile directly via the system or via a link you send out, so you know that any hiring manager is reviewing your very latest information, rather than some outdated CV document which no longer reflects your current skills or ambitions.

Is it easy to create, maintain and use?

We have worked hard to make the system as intuitive as possible, and we will continue to focus on this as we go forward.

As a web based service you don’t need any special software and as long as you have a reasonable internet connection you should be fine! Creating your SeeMeCV profile can take anything from 10 minutes to a couple of hours, and you can do it in one go or take time over a couple of days to get it just right. You decide.

We have built in some help services, support videos, examples and advice to ensure that you are able to navigate and use all the key functions, and our unique dashboard makes using the site really easy.

What happens when I stop looking for a job?

No problem. SeeMeCV is with you for the long run!!

We have built in a series of different “Status Settings” to enable you to manage your profile effectively, whether you are actively looking for a job, passively considering options, or not looking at all.

The beauty of the SeeMeCV profile is that you can continue to maintain your details in one place until a time when you are ready to start looking again, and you can continue to use all the other services provided in the platform.

The status Settings are;

Live – this means your profile is available to be searched by interested parties and they can view your CV and personal video, but they cannot see your personal contact details.

Hold – this means you can still be searched, but you add a holding message so viewers understand that you may not be immediately available for an interview. Examples, such as;
- “not looking to consider new opportunities until February”, or
- “currently overseas exploring South America, I am back in January and can be contacted then!”

Hidden - this takes you out of the open search database so employers or recruiters can no longer see your profile. You can still work on your profile and send links out if you wish. This setting can be useful if you want to keep your job hunting activities very low profile.

Assigned [coming soon]- this setting allows you to hand your profile over to a chosen recruiter for them to secure a job for you. We are adding recruiters all the time, so take a look to see if any are in your areas of focus, or alternatively they might find you and invite you to Connect with them!!

If you Assign your default profile it effectively takes you out of the open search database so employers or other recruiters can no longer see your profile. If you take the vCV Variant Service you can create 5 more profiles so you can assign one (or more) to a recruiter and still keep yourself in the main search system. A recruiter cannot alter your profile, but they may request you to add certain information in or even re-record your video to highlight specific skills which are relevant for a particular job. The assigned recruiter can add their logo to your CV and forward your online profile to their clients. These clients can then review your CV and your introductory video as part of their assessment.

You can agree a time limit for the recruiter to use your profile so you stay in control – after the expiry of the time limit the profile returns solely to your control.

Job seekers come in many different varieties – SeeMeCV is applicable to any individual looking to secure work whether as a full/part time employee, internship, volunteer, independent contractor or consultant.

• If you are a business consultant or technical contractor, what better way to represent your services than to provide a detailed online profile of yourself to prospective employers? You can talk about your previous projects, industry expertise and capabilities. And don’t forget that this profile can be sent or searched!! What happens if my current employer logs into the system, can they find me?

We have added a filter to the search which removes candidates from the search results if they are being searched by their employer, so in theory NO!

If the employer logs in under a different company name or the company name on your profile and that registered by the company don’t match, there is a small risk that you might be seen.

It is important to be aware of this risk, and for sure for many reasons, you should never mention your current employers name or talk negatively in your video about your employer, manager or colleagues!!

We want you to make use of the solution to improve your careers and job prospects.

We have included some premium services which we have priced as low as we can, and they are there for you if you want to use them.

Other services such as e-learning, personal discovery testing, coaching etc are provided in conjunction with our partners and priced as per their guidelines.

For employers and recruiters they pay for a search license and a small “connect” fee each time a candidate accepts an invitation for an interview.

Our pricing strategy is set to minimise the costs wherever possible so you don’t have any constraints on finding your perfect job.

How do I use my SeeMeCV profile most effectively?

Investing the required time upfront in creating the right SeeMeCV profile is critical!! Consider the time like you would in preparing for your first interview.

Getting the CV information and video introduction on the system to the best of your ability will greatly improve your chances of securing your dream job. It is also very important continually review your profile information and build on it over time. You never stop learning new skills or achieving new heights, so your SeeMeCV profile should develop as you develop – it is a living space!!

How you use your profile is then up to you;

• it can be sent to employers or recruiters for them to consider
• it can be attached to your preferred social (Facebook, Friendster) or career networks (LinkedIn, Ecademy)
• it can be set as a Live profile which can be searched by employers from around the world.
• It can be embedded as a link in any document you choose

And should you choose, you can come “offline” with the press of a button, you can’t do that with a CV document which is already in circulation!

It is undoubtedly the most innovative and versatile online profile available!!

Do I need a new computer, webcam and broadband access?

The quality of your video will be affected by a combination of your computer, webcam and internet connection.

Computer – most modern specification computers can work with SeeMeCV - It doesn’t need to be the latest model!!
Webcam – getting the best webcam you can will really improve the picture and sound quality of your vCV. There are a number of good brands out there, but in our testing we have found that the range provided by Logitech delivers the best results from their entry model units right through to their latest high end products.
Internet – as the current systems loads your video directly onto our media servers a slow or intermittent internet connection can cause problems. Try to find a good connection. Shortly after launch we will be providing a facility which enables you to record your video to your PC, and then upload and convert your file into a SeeMeCV format. This will allow you to reduce the issues of internet connectivity and also use other types of camera apart from just a webcam. Look out for this service soon and if you are concerned about the quality of your internet connection, you might want to try this approach.

Why don’t I just use YouTube to store my video?

YouTube is great for sharing videos with the general public, but your videoCV is a personal sales pitch and (we would argue) not for public consumption!!

The quality of the video can also be compromised as YouTube need to compress the videos a lot. As a job seeker, you also need to still provide a document which is linked to your video.

Prior to SeeMeCV, video sites like YouTube were the only real option, now with SeeMeCV you can use a site specially designed for videoCVs and job seekers which provides all the flexibility and security needed. We also provide a diverse range of companies searching for talent!!

How do I prepare and record my videoCV?

It might seem slightly daunting at first, but employers are not expecting a Hollywood epic!! They just want to see You the candidate, talk about yourself, so they can make a judgement on your suitability.

Within the site we have provided a document to help you prepare and record your video, and we also have a video coach in the system who gives you some hints and tips!

a. What if I make a mistake?

No problem – you can record your video as many times as you like until you get it just right. And at any point in the future you can also re-record your video to update your message to prospective employers. We actively encourage you to do this so your profile continues to reflect your latest capabilities and ambitions.

b. How do I know if I have done a good job?

If you need a second opinion on your video you can get your friends/family to take a look, or you can send the link to a colleague or mentor for their comments.

SeeMeCV do provide a videoCV Review service if you feel you need a more formal assessment and advice on areas for improvement. You’ll find this in the Premium Services icon of your dashboard.

c. I want to include other videos of me, how do I do this?

In the next release of the service we will provide you with:
- an additional space for links to other videos which help employers get a better understanding of your strengths
- a service for you to store personal and professional video references in the system from your tutors or previous employers.

d. What kind of camera can I use?

At the moment SeeMeCV only accepts webcam videos which are directly loaded into our media servers.
Shortly after launch, we will be adding a new service which will enable you to use a webcam or any other kind of camera to record a video and upload this file from your PC into our media server. This will enable most movie/video formats to be uploaded and converted into a SeeMeCV video – we will outline all the acceptable file formats when the new service launches.

e. How do I upload the video?

It’s simple – the system manages this for you with the press of a button!!

f. My internet access is not very reliable, how else can I upload my video?

Our new service due to launch soon will enable you to record a video using a webcam, or using any other mainstream device, onto your computer and from there to upload the file through our “converter” to store a SeeMeCV video on your profile. We will provide more details on this when we launch.

g. Why do I need a photo? How do I load this?

The additional of a photo on your CV is optional. In the event that an employer prints a copy of your CV off (we do try to prevent this!) a photo can help them maintain that connection to you and your video. The photo can be any low res photo stored on your computer or you can use your webcam to take a still photo when you are registering and just upload that.

The maximum file size of the photo is 100kb.

h. What other attachments can I add into my SeeMeCV profile?

As we deliver the next phase of functionality you will be able to add technical competency reports, references, scanned awards, video reference and lots more. You just need to be careful not to compromise the privacy guidelines and give away your personal contact details via your attachments.

i. What are premium services?

Premium services are additional services in the site we have developed to help you above the standard services. For most job seekers the standard service is more than enough, but for some, they want a little more. Premium services must add significant value - they will be continually reviewed and where appropriate new services added. Our premium services are:

• VideoCV review Service – we will  complete a 10 section review of your video and provide you with a report so you can make any adjustments necessary to your future recordings
• videoCV Variants Service – this enables you to create 5 additional profiles  (CV & Video) which you can amend to target specific companies. You can also use this service to assign one or more of your profiles to recruiters.
• Featured candidate – if you want to raise your profile in the system, you can select the featured candidate service. This enables you to create a summary profile and ”power pitch” (additional 15 secs video) which is displayed as employers in your chosen  industry log into our system. Featured candidates are also given preferred listings when their skills match an employer search.
• All Premium services a valid for specific time periods, please see the information in the main system for further details.

j. How do I select and pay for them?

You can access the Premium Services from your candidate Dashboard. Our payment partner is PayPal, so you are taken outside of the SeeMeCV system to process the transaction – no credit card or account details are held on our system.

What happens if I forget my SeeMeCV password?

Hey, we’re all human - This happens from time to time.
Should you forget your password the system can send you a new password as required. As an extra level of authentication is built in you may also be challenged with the secret question you answered at registration.

Can I have more than one account?

We can’t think of a good reason why you would want more than one account!! But, the system will allow you to create an additional profile using a different user name, email address and mobile phone number. Our advice, focus on getting one profile just right!

You are able to maintain your profile on line and edit any changes to your contact details.

Can I have more than one email on my account?

Yes – we allow two email accounts to be attached to your SeeMeCV profile. You can use a main email  address and an alternate one as well

Why do I need to add an alternative description for my current employer into my profile?

This is part of our privacy policy to prevent candidates from being contacted by employers or recruiters while you are at work, or not actively looking for a new role.

If you provide your surname and your place of employment, any determined recruiter can locate you at work and compromise your circumstances. The alternate description gives enough information for employers or recruiters to know roughly what kind of organisation you are working in without disclosing the actual company.

Pick your description carefully to convey the company accurately, without giving too much away!
And make sure that in the rest of your profile (roles & responsibilities, achievements etc) and in your video, you also avoid mentioning the name of your current employer!

Why can’t I upload my existing CV/Resume?

Employers and Recruiters around the world are faced with the challenge of reviewing thousands of CVs in many different formats. This slows the process and prevents reasonable comparisons to be made between individuals.

By uploading your information into the SeeMeCV system, we are able to offer a standard format. While this may not be exactly the format you want, the benefits for the reviewer far outweigh the downsides. All candidates are in the same position and employers understand the system constraints, so focus on the content not the format!!

What If there is information I want to add but there is no specific field in the CV format?

Get creative! Where there is a will there is always a way. There are some open text fields where you can combine information and you can use bullet points, bold text and underlining to highlight information where needed.

How do I send a link to an employer or recruiter?

The system provides a secure facility to send a link to a prospective employer or chosen recruiter. The process is quite simple and is available within the Send Profile icon on the dashboard. X simple steps;

1. Profile Selection - Select which profile you want to send (only valid if you have taken the vCV variants service)
2. Link Expiry date - select an expiry date for the link
3. Information display - Highlight what information you want the link to show -  profile, video or both
4. Security - do you want the link to be password protected, if yes, set the password
5. Generate the Link – either generate a link which you can copy and paste or create a CV document with the link embedded* (* - useful when a job process makes submission of a CV document mandatory)

Why don’t I just send a pdf of my CV?

Yes you can still do that, but it really defeats the objective of the system. CVs sent as Pdf or word documents, are stuck in time and cannot be retrieved once sent. We firmly believe that you are constantly growing, AND so should your CV – a document cannot achieve this but an online SeeMeCV profile can. By sending out a link, you know that when the viewer clicks on your link, that they are looking at your latest personal and professional information.

Where a registration process needs you to upload a CV document, you can use the SeeMeCV profile (or another if you really need to!), but make sure you copy your unique link into the document and make specific reference to it, so the viewer can still be brought back to you online profile, to see the real You!

What is the assigned status? [coming soon]

If you identify a recruiter within the SeeMeCV system who works in a particular market or industry which is of interest to you, you can assign your profile over to them. This allows them to brand your CV and forward your video on to their corporate clients on your behalf. There are two types of Assigned status and you can decide how long to assign you profile for:
Exclusive – your main profile is managed by the recruiter so you are unable to send out your profile to other companies or recruiters. You will also be removed from the open database and therefore cannot be searched by other companies
Non-Exclusive – if you want to maintain your profile on the searchable database as well as have the flexibility to send you profile to employers or other recruiters, you will need to use the vCV Variant Premium service to create alternate profiles. One of these can be assigned to the recruiter, leaving you with your other variants for further assignment or direct use with employers.

How do I know if someone has viewed my profile?

We provide weekly statistics on searches against your profile.

For reasons of privacy, we are unable to give the exact name of the company or individual, but we will provide you with the industry and “alternate” description” of the organisation so you can get a feel of who is looking at your profile.

Can I invite friends to use the service? (download them from my contacts book?)

We would be delighted if you invite your friends and colleagues into the system. We have a special service which you can use to send a link to your friends.

You can either do this as you register or go back at any time in the future vie “Manage Profile”, “Edit profile”, “Step 4 – More About You”
